I'm Laura, a person-centred counsellor based near Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent, offering in-person, walk & talk and online therapy to adults who want to understand themselves more deeply, build confidence and feel truly at home within themselves.
Does This Sound Like You? ⭐A strong inner critic and unrealistically high expectations ⭐Perfectionism or people-pleasing, always striving to achieve and stay in control ⭐Difficulty switching off, resting or relaxing ⭐Experiencing overwhelm ⭐Confidence tied to achievement or others’ approval ⭐Feeling different from those around you or struggling to “fit in” ⭐Often feeling “not good enough”
If any of this resonates, you’re in the right place. I work with many clients who share these experiences, and together we explore what's beneath these patterns so that real, lasting change becomes possible.
How Therapy Can Help My counselling sessions offer a space to: 💚Understand yourself and your emotions more clearly 💚Develop self-compassion and greater acceptance 💚Grow your self-confidence and self-esteem 💚Feel more present, grounded and connected 💚Build healthier relationships—with yourself and others
I take a person-centred, trauma-informed approach, helping you explore your emotions and life experiences without judgment. Together, we look beneath the surface to understand what’s really driving your thoughts, behaviours and feelings. All emotions are valid, and often they are natural responses to your past experiences and the beliefs you’ve learned to hold about yourself. If you want to understand more about emotions, you might find my blog helpful. The Person-Centred Approach
Counsellors are trained in different modalities, and this determines how they work with clients. My training is in the person-centred approach, which affirms that the client is the expert on their own life and experiences, and has within themselves the necessary resources for growth and change. The role of the counsellor is to journey alongside the client, listening with empathy and without judgement, offering reflections and observations to help them gain deeper insight. You can learn more about this approach in my blog section.
